Stamina, intelligence and strong bonds
Weimaraners are very active gundogs that often bond closely. They learn quickly but need clear rules and experienced, fair guidance.
Everyday life
Plan at least two hours of activity, scent work and training. Build a reliable recall before off-lead exercise; hunting instincts can take over.
When you need to go out
Being alone needs gradual practice. The RSPCA advises no more than four hours at a time; puppies and some adults need much shorter intervals. Arrange company during longer absences.
Day-to-day care
The short coat is easy to care for and can be brushed weekly. Protect the dog from cold and allow recovery.
Size and build
Measurements describe adult dogs and are a guide. Lines and individuals can vary; ask about the parents’ health, temperament and daily life.
Health
PDSA lists hip dysplasia, GDV, some cancers and eye problems. Ask about relevant screening and learn the signs of urgent conditions.
